One of the most luxurious train rides in the world, the salons of the Maharajas' Express train draws inspiration from the private saloons of the erstwhile Maharajas of India. This is a train that never falls short of surprises and at the same time provides discerning travellers a royal experience.
The foundation of the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur was laid in the 15th century. Today, it houses brilliantly crafted and decorated palaces of which the most notable are Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace), Phool Mahal (Flower Palace) and Sheesh Mahal (MirrorPalace) among others.
Ranthambore National Park, one of the largest national parks in northern India, is one ofthe best places in India to see the majestic tiger in the wild. The park lies atthe edge of a plateau and is named after the historic Ranthambhore fortress, which lies within the national park. Other major wild animals that can be see here include leopard, nilgai, wildboar, sambar, hyena, sloth bear and chital.
At least thirteen species of dinosaurs lived in Balasinor, possibly for more than 100 million years, until their extinction some 65 million years ago. So well-protected are the fossilised eggs found here that many researchers call them the best-preserved eggs in the world after the ones found in Aix-en-Provence in France.
