It is over fifty years now since the last of the daily passenger boats from Kolkata plied the Brahmaputra through Assam with tea planters and forest officers, soldiers and district magistrates. Cruise and relive the experience.


Itinerary

Day 1Arrive Kolkata and stay overnight.
Day 2City tour of Kolkata and trip to the Indian Museum. Overnight in Kolkata
Day 3Fly to Guwahati. Visit the Kamakhya Temple and Commonwealth War Graves cemetery. Trip to State Museum and bazaars. Embark RV Charaidew and overnight on board.
Day 4Cruise upstream to Ganesh Pahar. Overnight onboard.
Day 5Continue cruise. Short stop to visit bankside village. Moor for the night amidst sand islands. Overnight on board.
Day 6Cruise to Singri Ghat. Disembark for drive to Orang National Park. Elephant safari in the national park. Overnight on board.
Day 7Cruise to Tezpur. Drive to Da Parbatia temple ruins. Explore town by cycle rickshaws. Embark one again to continue to Silghat to moor for the night. Overnight on board.
Day 8Moor at Steemer Ghat. Visit Kaziranga National Park for jeep safari. Overnight on board.
Day 9Pre-dawn drive to Kaziranga's Central Ridge for early morning elephant ride. Walk through terraced tea gardens and visit tribal villages. Option of jeep safari to Kaziranga Eastern Ridge or return to Steemer Ghat to visit a village and temple. Overnight on board.
Day 10Disembark to drive to Guwahati and fly back to Kolkata. Transfer to hotel thence to airport.
Day 11Board flight for onward destination.
